Chester River Health Foundation's Annual Golf Tournament Set for June 2

For immediate release: March 10, 2017

The Chester River Health Foundation's 23rd annual golf tournament fundraiser is scheduled for Friday, June 2, at Chester River Yacht and Country Club just outside of Chestertown, MD. The proceeds will help fund the purchase of 13 sets of patient room furnishings for UM Shore Medical Center at Chestertown.

“The Kent and Queen Anne’s community have been very generous, which is essential for us to continue to provide high quality local healthcare services”, says Scott Burleson, executive director, UM Shore Medical Center at Chestertown.  “Proceeds from the golf tournament will help replace beds and patient room furniture, which will further improve the patient experience at our facility”

“Over the next three years, our hospital, will be replacing its beds, mattresses, tray tables, nightstands and chairs, with state-of-the-art medical/surgical and bariatric equipment,” said Maryann Ruehrmund, executive director, Chester River Health Foundation. “The total cost is estimated to be $414,000 and one hundred percent of the funds for this equipment will need to be raised. With the exception of a stethoscope, these furnishings are the single most important tools in providing hospital services.”

“The Chester River Health Foundation’s Board of Directors committed to funding the first 10 rooms of furniture, which will cost $138,000,” she continued. The proceeds from this year’s golf tournament along with the availability of Maryland Community Investment Tax Credits for sponsors at the $1,000 level and above, will help make the purchase of this equipment possible.”

Last year's golf tournament attracted 128 players and raised over $41,000 toward the purchase of high definition, white light digital colonoscopies and endoscopes for the surgical department.
